Through conversation with our skilled and experienced speakers, we’ll discuss the joys and pros of establishing and sustaining your creative business and how to overcome challenges through the way. If you’re looking for tips on how to set yourself up as a creative business, how to seek clients, how to sell your work, how to market yourself and much, much more, come along to this informal and interesting evening. Ola Awonubi

Ola Awonubi studied for an MA in Creative writing and Imaginative Practice at the University of East London and in 2008 her short story ‘The Pink House’, won first prize in the National Words of Colour competition. This was followed by another story – ‘The Go-Slow Journey’, winning the first prize in the Wasafiri New Writing Prize 2009. Some of her short stories feature on blogs and journals and anthologies such as African, Story Time, The Ake Review,, The Woven Tale Press and more recently Brittle Paper.
She is currently working on a collection of short stories based on the African experience in the Diaspora, and her novel – Love’s Persuasion was published by Ankara Press – the Romance imprint of Cassava Press, Abuja. Nigeria. Her second book for the imprint – I Love You Unconditionally was published recently. Her third book – an anthology of short stories – Naija Love Stories was published by Conscious Dreams Publishing in October 2018.
She is also one of the contributing writers at Panorama – a new British literary journal with a focus on travel literature, art and photography.

Michael R. Miller

Michael R. Miller was born in 1992 and grew up in the grey, wet and wild west coast of Scotland.

He began writing his debut book, The Reborn King, when he was 10. Old paper copies of terrible opening chapters may still be found in a drawer back home. Thankfully those early drafts never saw the light of day. In 2015 he renewed his writings efforts and released The Reborn King in November of that year.

Since then he has sold over 70,000 books, hit numerous Amazon bestselling charts, including the top 100 of ALL books on A scene from his first book has been incorporated into the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Arts Exam Anthology for Performance starting in 2019.

Michael has also worked at Bloomsbury Publishing in their Digital Marketing Department and co-founded the digital publisher Portal Books. He’s also spoken on BBC Radio Scotland on Self-Publishing.

They have exhibited at comic conventions across the UK(Thought Bubble, MCM Comic Con), Europe (Japan Expo, Malta Comic Con), and the United States (Anime Expo).

mayamada is a creative manga brand set within a television network world full of amazing anthropomorphic characters and stories. They design cool streetwear clothing featuring their characters, and host their own industry recognised social gaming event GamePad, promoting inclusion through video games.

Nigel also delivers creative comic story workshops. Through fun and engaging use of storytelling, they unlock the creative potential in young people and help manga lovers get closer to the storytelling process.
